The Delaware Valley Association of Rail Passengers (DVARP) hosted a tri-state
meeting of the National Association of Rail Passengers (NARP) at the Temple
University Center City campus on March 24 2012. Speakers from NARP, Amtrak,
SEPTA and rail transit professionals addressed topics both regional and
nationwide. The main focus of the discussion centered around the plans
to increase access to New York City by way of additional tunnels for either
heavy rail or subways. After the meeting, the attendees were bussed to
the Hyundai-Rotem Plant in South Philadelphia where they are assembling
the new Silverliner V cars for SEPTA. While Hyundai-Rotem personnel prohibited
those on tour from taking personal photographs on their property, our
South Korean tour guides repeatedly promised to forward copies of the
numerous photographs taken during the tour to the many rail-friendly advocates
who requested them.
So, as of today, here are all of those wonderful pictures supplied by
the happy smiling people at H-R.
