SEPTA Thirtieth Street Station Philadelphia PA May 8 2010 |
The nation's railroads celebrated National Train Day on May 8 2010, but before we get to Amtrak's festivities at Thirtieth Street Station in Philadelphia, let us take a look at the one display that did not feature long lines. SEPTA's Silverliner V married pair, viewed from street level on JFK Boulevard, could be seen among the hodgepodge of architectural styles that is the City of Brotherly Love with the sleek glass and steel of the Cira Centre (2000's), the stone and iron work of the station (1930's) and the high tech flat black PECO building (1970's). |
The Silverliner V married pair 801/802 were open for inspection on Track 4 of the SEPTA concourse. The other pilot car, Silverliner V single unit 701, which is currently undergoing nighttime testing on the Airport Line, was left behind at Wayne Electric. |
One of the changes from the mockup was the relocation of the horns from behind the pilot. |
