Railfan Pictures of the Day - 10/29/2010
SEPTA Suburban Station and Cynwyd Line Cynwyd Station October 29 2010 |
The testing/training phase of the three Silverliner V pilot cars finally ended on October 29 2010. Pulling out of Wayne Electric just before 7:00 AM as Run 997, the train ran down to Suburban Station and parked on Track 5 to prepare for its first revenue run as Train 1061 to Cynwyd. 701 would lead 802 and 801 out of the tunnel and into history. |
Train 1061 departed at 8:26 and 21 minutes later was already at the end of the line at Cynwyd. |
The train out of Suburban was loaded with SEPTA and Rotem personnel, invited guests and the media as well as a number of fare paying passengers that looked oddly like railfans. The outbound trip did not pick up any passengers along the way and, upon arrival, everyone disembarked to get their photos and stretch their legs while the crew prepared to turn as Train 1062 for its trip back to a ceremonial arrival in Center City. |
Waiting on Track 0 in Suburban Station was a banner test of sorts ..... |
which the train passed with flying colors in front of a large audience. |
A brief ceremony was held before the train made its second trip of the day, this time to Wilmington. Over the next week, the pilot set will be making trips over all of the other lines. |
