SEPTA Doylestown Branch and Main Line Lansdale PA February 25 2012 |
Since the introduction of the new Silverliner V cars, trains with them had been rare enough that SEPTA had been posting the scheduled runs where they would be found. Evidently they are now plentiful enough that last week they discontinued that practice as they now show up on the weekends. This past weekend, they appeared on several runs, and to mix things up a bit, mother nature provided vastly different weather conditions as a backdrop on Saturday. A video of these trains can be found on Youtube. As Train 526 departs Fortuna Station at 9:17AM, the weather is overcast and windy ... |
A half hour later, lake-effect snow (propelled by high winds from Lake Erie 350 miles away) creates blizzard-like conditions as Train 523 led by the original pilot car 701 arrives ... |
and departs Lansdale. |
An hour later and it is bright and sunny as Train 527 with a pair of Silverliner V married pairs passes the former American Olean plant (known in the day as just "The Tile", currently a business center and a proposed site of housing development) and ... |
and minutes later passing the former Guardian/Rogers Mechanical site which is in the process of being cleared for another proposed housing complex. |
