Tioga Marine Terminal Port Richmond Philadelphia PA August 20 2008 |
What is buried deep among the miscellaneous cargo at the Tioga Marine Terminal? |
Why, it is the SEPTA Silverliner V mockup, of course. Newly arrived aboard the Rickmers Hamburg, it was unloaded the night before, completing its more than a month journey from Korea. |
Wednesday morning and it is ready to move, as soon as a banner is hung on the side to proclaim the arrival of first new SEPTA Silverliner in over thirty years. |
But there were complications with the route this oversized load would take, so by late afternoon, it was still all dressed up but not yet cleared to go. |
One thing the new kid will need before its debut is a really good scrubbing to wash off 12,000 plus miles of grime, courtesy of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. |
