Wednesday November 2nd, 2022 at the Heritage DiscoveRY Center,  6:30pm - 8:30pm

Join the Steel Plant Museum of Western New York as Shane Stephenson discusses the preservation efforts at the Buffalo Naval Park of USS "The Sullivans" a Fletcher-Class Destroyer.

Doors open at 5:30 PM, presentation begins at 6:30 PM. The Museum will be open before, during, and after the presentation. Pizza, snacks and refreshments will be available. Admission is free.


October  2022

"HDC Fall Car Show"

Saturday, October 1st, 2022. Noon till 4:00pm, at the Heritage DiscoveRY Center, 100 Lee Street, Buffalo

All Makes and Model of Cars & Trucks are welcome, NO registration fees, but donations to the museum are welcomed. A DJ will supply music all afternoon and there will be a food tent and plenty of displays both inside and outside the museum to view. Bring the kids to ride on our restored Amusement Park Train.

Our Museum opens at 10:00am and will be open before, during, and after the show. Hot Dogs, snacks, refreshments and Bake Goods will be available. Admission is FREE.


Saturday, October 1st, 2022. 10:30am, at the Heritage DiscoveRY Center, 100 Lee Street, Buffalo, NY.

25th Anniversary of the Buffalo Irish Genealogical Society
Michael McBride will speak on his great uncle Exile McBride's remarkable life.
Upstairs conference room starting at 10:30am.

The Heritage Discovery Center Museum will be open before, during, and after the presentation. Admission is FREE.

Join the Steel Plant Museum of Western New York as we enjoy selected poems from "Steeling America - A Poetic Memoir of Bethlehem Steel's Lackawanna Plant," by George and Donna Grace.

Doors open at 5:30 PM, presentation begins at 6:30 PM. The Museum will be open before, during, and after the presentation. Pizza, snacks and refreshments will be available. Admission is free.


September  2022

Our September Public Meeting will be held on Thursday the 15th, 2022 at the Don Owens Center on the Heritage Discovery Campus, at 100 Lee Street in Buffalo.

Society member, Jim Slominski will be presenting a "Photo Essay" of work by renowned New York Central Company photographer Ed Nowak. Many of Mr. Nowaks photos were taken in and around the City of Buffalo during the days of Steam. Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase during the meeting.

Doors open at 6:00pm, with the meeting starting at 7:00pm. The Railroad and Steel Plant Museums will be open before, during, and after the meeting. Admission is Free.

Please park in the lot at the rear of the Heritage DiscoveRY Center Buffalo at 100 Lee St., and enter through the middle rear door. (Follow the ENTRANCE signs) Wheelchair access is via the front doors on Lee Street. There is ample free parking and is open to the general public. Guests are always welcome.

Wednesday September 7th, 2022 at the Heritage DiscoveRY Center,  6:30pm - 8:30pm

Join the Steel Plant Museum of Western New York as we enjoy Peter Jablonski he presents the "Time Capsule in your Backyard."

Doors open at 5:30 PM, presentation begins at 6:30 PM. The Museum will be open before, during, and after the presentation. Pizza, snacks and refreshments will be available. Admission is free.


August  2022

August 13th at the Heritage DiscoveRY Center - 12:30pm - 3:00pm.
Doors open at 12:30pm. Admission is $5.00 at the door.

On August 13th 2022, to celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the end of World War II, the Steel Plant Museum will be hosting a Rosie the Riveter Rally! We will be joined by The Buffalo Dolls, and some real life Rosies! Come out and celebrate their hard work to secure our freedom! Please wear your best Rosie outfit! We will be sending in photos of our Rosie look-a-likes to the American Rosie the Riveter Association! Pizza and refreshments will be available. Reservations highly encouraged. February  2022

SATURDAY THE 26th and SUNDAY THE 27th, 2022.

Its time to for the WNYRHS 30th Annual Winter Train & Toy Show at the Event Center on the Fairgrounds in Hamburg, New York.

Dads, Moms and Kids of all ages will love the variety of items see and buy. Over 350 tables full of great railroad, model railroad, vintage toys and more! Five layouts - Two "HO" gauge. one "N" gauge, one "O" gauge and one "S" gauge will have trains running both days. Queen City Amusements will be there with their carnival layout. The Williamsville Lehigh Valley Depot crew is ready to go with their ever popular basket raffle. Speakers and demonstrators are lined up for both days of the event.

There is ample free parking and Admission is only $8.00 , KIDS 12 and under are FREE! Hours: Saturday - 10am to 5pm, Sunday - 10am to 4pm.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2022 AT 6:30 PM - 10 PM

Annual Members Meeting and Trustee Election. After a brief business meeting, including updates from the various WNYRHS departments. Our February program will include the annual election of the WNYRHS Trustees, followed by a members' "Slide Night." Multi-Media equipment will be on hand.

Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase during the meeting. Our "2020 Buffalo Railway Heritage Calendar" will also be available.

Doors open at 6:00pm, with the meeting starting at 7:00pm. The Railroad and Steel Plant Museums will be open before, during, and after the meeting. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted!
