"1300" Class
The "1300" Class locomotive, road numbers 1301 - 1304 are rebuilt DE0# class locomotives, built by Clyde Engineering for BHP in the late 50s to early 60s. Rebuilt as DE# locomotives and renumbered as 1300 class locomotives, they are now owned and operated by Aurizon, (formerly Genesee & Wyoming Australia, then briefly One Rail Australia). These narrow gauge locomotives are used exclusively for driver only operations on the Iron Baron/Duke/Knight/Knob - Whyalla lines for supply of iron ore to the Whyalla steelworks and export. "1600" Class
The "1600" Class locomotive, road numbers 1601 - 1606 are rebuilt 'NJ' class narrow gauge locomotives, built by Clyde Engineering for Commonwealth Railways in the late 60s and early 70s. In 1975 they were transferred to Australian National, then in 1997 to Australian Southern Railroad and finally to Australian Railroad Group in 2006. After the demise of Australian Railroad Group 4 were transferred to Genesee & Wyoming Australia and 2 to Aurizon, (formerly QR National). The Aurizon units (1602 and 1605), were sold to to a South African Operator. 1604 was damaged and consequently scrapped after a fire hauling a gypsum train between Ceduna and Denial Bay. The remaining 3 locomotives are now owned by Aurizon, (formerly Genesee & Wyoming Australia, then briefly One Rail Australia) and used exclusively for operations on the Kevin - Thevenard line for the transport of export gypsum. "2250" Class
The "2250" Class locomotive are ex-Queensland Railways rebuilt '1550' class, '2130' class and '2141' class locomotives. They are now owned by various companies. 20 of these locomotives were sold to Transnet (South Africa) with 5 of those locomotives being re-purchased back by Genesee & Wyoming Australia (now Aurizon), for use on the Iron Baron/Duke/Knight/Knob - Whyalla lines, for supply of iron ore to the Whyalla steelworks and export.
