Locomotives of AIS (Australian Iron and Steel) (later BHP Steel, then Bluescope), Port Kembla steelworks.

"D1" Class
The "D1" Class locomotive, road numbers 1 - 8, were former shunting locomotives at the The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited (BHP), (formerly Australian Iron and Steel Limited (AIS)) Port Kembla steelworks (NSW). They were built by built by Commonwealth Engineering, Granville (NSW), with English Electric traction equipment in the early 50's. Most were retired and scrapped in the early 80's. "D9" Class
The "D9" Class locomotive, road numbers 9 - 15 and 20 - 25, were former shunting locomotives at the The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited (BHP), (formerly Australian Iron and Steel Limited (AIS)) Port Kembla steelworks. They were built in the late 50's by English Electric, with most retired and scrapped in the early 80's. The power of these units is 402hp. A distinctive feature of these locomotives was a large cooling fan at the long end of the locomotive.

The "D16" Class locomotive, road numbers 16 - 19 and 26 - 33, were former shunting locomotives at the The Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited (BHP), (formerly Australian Iron and Steel Limited (AIS)) Port Kembla steelworks. They were built in the late 50's to early 60's by English Electric. The power of these units is 850hp.
