Australian Standard Garratt Locomotives
Australian Standard Garratt Locomotives were proposed and designed by the Commonwealth Land Transport Board in 1942 for Australia's narrow guage raliways. Of 65 locomotives, 22 were built at Clyde Engineering (NSW), 16 at Newport Workshops, 12 at Islington Workshops (SA) and 10 at Midland Workshops (WA), with 5 locomotives cancelled at the end of World War 2. G-33 is the only remaining locomotive. More Information.

G-33
G-33, named 'Albert Gunsser', was purchased by Australian Portland Cement
for use in their Fyansford cement works. It was donated for preservation and
was on static display at Newport Railway Museum (pictured). In 2011 it was
moved to The Bellarine Railway and is currently under restoration.
