The Pacific Surfliner route is a joint operation between Amtrak and the California Department of Transportation. It operates daily train service between San Luis Obispo through Los Angeles and south to San Diego. Most of the service is between Los Angeles and San Diego. These photos were taken over a 5 day period and are shown not necessarily in the order taken. Several were taken when I rode Amtrak to or through some of the stations. Others were taken when railfanning by driving and those taken at Torrey Pines State Beach were taken while walking! Not only does this route provide safe, reliable train service, but it also provides some of the most spectacular views to be seen from a passenger train!!! I have organized this section of the travelogue by station starting from north to south. Included underneath each station name are the name or names of the Amtrak trains that are served by that station.
