Ex-Missouri Pacific Diesel Units Still In Service
Compiled by Jay Glenewinkel

Compiled here is a partial listing of former Missouri Pacific Power, that was on the property at the time of the UP-MP-WP merger in 1982. Originally, this section was just going to be only power that has been retired by the Union Pacific. However, I felt it proper to create the first ever, online roster with a complete number by number listing of the former MoPac Power in service anywhere in North America. I have included the renumberings of MP power on the Union Pacific System as of December 16, 2001, along with the units in service elsewhere.

At this time, this roster is not complete. Several hours of research is currently underway, and units as well as models will be added on a regular basis, until the complete roster of 3000 plus units is accounted for. This will include any power that was owned, leased or assigned to the Missouri Pacific, including the former Western Pacific and Rock Island GP40s. Any contributions of information and/or photographs is welcome. If any errors, or information is found to be incorrect, please contact us immediatley, and we will make the proper corrections.

Numerous resources include Union Pacific Railroad, Don Strack's Union Pacific Locomotive Directory 2000, Kevin Eudaly's MoPac Power, Diesel Era Magazine, CTC Board Magazine, and numerous private resources have been used in the preparation of this roster. For more detailed information of Missouri Pacific Power, I highly reccommend Kevin Eudaly's Missouri Pacific Power.

UPDATE:
From September 2001 to current date, UP has retired over 300 locomotives, and most of the Ex-MoPac SD40-2s and SD50s are gone with the exception of the rebuilt units to SD38s for yard duties. All of the ex-MP GEs are expected to be off the roster by May 2002. The legacy of the MOPac power on the UP will soon be a thing of the past.
