The switch is a "semi automatic" can be trailed through without lining it for the route. They are not a spring switch and must be
lined by hand for a facing point move. Numerous rules applied to these switches and mostly used in yards and on yard leads.
The V indicated that is was a semi automatic switch and the V also indicated that the route was lined for the diverging route.

General Electric Leasing

GE undertook a locomotive rebuilding project wherein modern GE Dash 7 electrical equipment was put in
MLW units with 251 model prime movers. 5 C-630 and 24 M-630 were traded-in by BC Rail to GE in 1990-1991.
One demonstrator unit GECX 5000 (ex BCOL 707) was sent around the USA and Mexico.
No orders resulted and the program was ended. Stored for years at Erie is in operation again!
