BNSF 5194 - another in the line of C 30-7's, this time in Santa Fe's potato chip bag scheme, seen stored all over town this winter. It's been speculated that these units were in the deadline as the BNSF culls out older and unnecessary units from it's roster. 3/01 - T. Greuter Photo

BNSF 5403 - a Dash 9-44CW. Sleet whips at the lead unit during one of the coldest and whitest winters in memory. The freight train is heading west towards 27th Street in Lincoln, Nebraska. 2/01 - T. Greuter Photo

BNSF 8916 and 8862 - both SD70 MAC's, lead an empty coal train back to the Powder River -- charging over the bridge to the town of Emerald, Nebraska. Emerald is a great photo location on the Ravenna line, with a bridge and small town grain elevator. 3/17/01 - T. Greuter Photo

BNSF 9844 - an SD70 Mac, a loaded eastbound coal train pulls into Hobson Yard from the Ravenna Line. This train will roll into the locomotive servicing area to be refueled, resanded, and recrewed before it makes its next move out of town. Those brilliant pumpkin colors are looking a bit faded now. 3/17/01 - T. Greuter Photo

BNSF 9920 - an SD70 Mac, serving as a pusher (termed a DPU unit), makes it's way into west Hobson Yard. There's a sole lead engine up front with the help of this pusher at the end of the mile-long coal train. DPU's were not commonly used on Hobson's coal trains (as they are today) until after the merger of BN and ATSF. 3/3/01 - T. Greuter Photo

BNSF 9878 & 8838 - with a mile of empties exit the yard and head out west on the Ravenna line for the Wyoming coal fields. West Hobson Yard, Nebraska 3/17/01 - T. Greuter Photo
