Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana

Summary:

The railways of the generality of Valencia (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana FGV) are constitued of 2 separate metre-gauge networks:

"Metrovalencia" network

Alicante network

Subway / Rapid transit

Tramways of València

Line Alicante-Denia

Tramways of Alicante

See also the page Alicante
The Metrovalència includes the subway, the rapid transit and the tramway lines in Valencia. The line 4 (Tramway) is electrificated with 750v DC, the other lines with 1500v DC.

The
Alicante-Denia line is now being electrificated with 750v DC. The part Alicante (La Marina) - El Campello, already electrificated, is exploited as an urban tramway urbain as "Tram Alicante", the rest between El Campello, Benidorm and Denia is exploited with MAN DMUs.

FGV Metrovalencia

Subway / Rapid transit network
The FGV owns 4 lines in Valencia:
- Line 1: Villanueva de Castellón or Torrent Avinguda to Llíria or Bétera (about 70kms long!)
- Line 3: Mislata-Almassil to Rafelbunyol
- Line 4 (Tramway): Vincente Andres E. or Mas del Rosari to Doctor Lluch
- Line 5: Torrent Avinguda or Avenida del Cid to Ayora

The subway workshops are located at
València-Sud (lines 1 and 5), these for the tramways at La Serreria (line 4). There is always lots of good photographable stock at València-Sud, but beware: because of the proximity of the workshops, this station is one of the few of the FGV being always guarded by security guards!

Actually (August 2005), new tramway cars type Cityrunner, loan by the public transports of Lodz (Poland) are being taken in service. Excepted #1210, they carry no immatriculation and no inscriptions, and run only for drivers formation. Here the few ones I shot:
