McCloud: Depot Building

The railroad's VIP caboose posed in front of the McCloud depot circa 1971 in this photo by George Landrock. This depot building was built in the summer of 1929 at a cost of $18,000. It housed the offices and headquarters of the railroad from then until 22 December 1990, when it was completely destroyed by fire. The two story tall brick vault is the only remnant of the building left standing; the remainer of the site served as the parking for the Shasta Sunset Dinner Train. In late 2016, 4-Rasils Inc. conveyed the building location to the local community health clinic, who is in the process of converting the site to non-railroad purposes.
