Visiting Cedar Point - September 29th-30th, 2007
I woke up around Noon Friday and called up Enterprise who came and picked me up at the hotel. My rental car this year is a black 2007 Pontiac G6. The car had about 12,000 miles on it and is the first Pontiac I’ve ever driven. The car was roomy and was decent overall. After picking up the rental car, I headed over to the local Meijer grocery store to pick up some Diet Pepsi, Bottled Water and V8 Juice. After dropping off the "consumables" at the hotel, I drove out to Amherst, OH to have lunch at Donato’s Pizza. The Stromboli I ate with the Potato Wedge fries was decent. I’ve never eaten at this chain before so I figured I’d try something new on this trip, and overall, it wasn’t bad. After putting gas in the rental car, I drove back to Sandusky, stopped by the old facility where I worked when I worked at CP 6 years ago, visited with a few former co-workers then drove back to the hotel to continue this travelogue. I packed up my camera, hoodie and a backup set of glasses to wear while riding roller coasters and headed for Cedar Point. This year’s HalloWeekends events included a parade as well as past favorites including the Fright Zone, Fear Faire, Undertaker U. and CarnEVIL! The biggest thing for 2007 is Maverick, a Western-themed coaster that's nothing short of incredible. I had the chance to ride it twice this year and I'm still trying to find the words to describe it, it's that cool!!! CP also introduced 2 new restaurants this year, Panda Express which is a National Chain of Chinese restaurants, as well as Chic Fil-a, a popular chicken sandwich restaurant. This adds to CP’s already growing collection of chain restaurants on the park property which include Famous Dave's, TGI Fridays, Johnny Rockets and a Pizza Hut Express located inside the Hotel Breakers. CP was once again amazing this year. This is my 16th year in a row visiting CP and the 10th year using Amtrak to get there. I spent all of Friday evening there then called it a day...

On Saturday morning, I drove back to CP so as to meet up with a friend of mine for lunch before the park opened. After a great burger at Famous Dave's, I headed into the park and spent the next several hours taking lots of slides with my new Canon camera. I have fully upgraded all of my camera equipment in the past year to Canon, thereby retiring all of my Pentax equipment that served me very well for several years. I made the decision to upgrade to Canon since I knew their EF-mount Auto Focus lenses would work on their digital SLR’s though I'm still shooting film as I purchased a brand-new Canon EOS Rebel T2 film camera as part of my upgrade late last year. At this time I have no plans to go digital since Kodak still makes my slide film and I can still get it processed in 2 hours back home. So at this time, everything you see on this site was shot from film. I stayed at the park all day and ate dinner at the Chic Fil-a restaurant that evening. Cedar Point was once again named "Best Amusement Park In The World" by Amusement Today Magazine and they’ve once again lived up to that recognition, I'll definitely be back again next year for my 17th straight year! After leaving the park, I drove back to the hotel and called it a day.
