  • Meetings

    Except as noted, the Society hosts regular meetings at the American Legion Post 1645, located at 177 Robinson Street, Binghamton, NY.

    Meetings are generally held in the Lecture Room at that facility, on the evenings of the second Wednesday of each month, September through May. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the announcements and program start about 7:00 pm. The public is welcome as our meetings are open to everyone, members as well as non-members.

    • October 9, 2024 - "An Introduction to Railroad Dining Car China"

      A presentation by Nate Kaiser.

    • November 13, 2024 - "Union Pacific’s Triple Track Main - The Kearney Sub"

      Travel to the busiest freight mainline in North America. The Kearney Sub lies in the heart of central Nebraska. The 110-mile portion from North Platte to Gibbon Junction can see an average of more than 100 trains a day. See many types of trains, distributed power coal trains, and pre-merger power can be seen including C&NW, Southern Pacific, and Rio Grande! This is Railroading at it’s best!     • December 11, 2024 - Member’s Night

      Open program presentation. Please limit your presentation to 10 minutes. If time permits we can do another round for those who have additional material to present. A digital projector will be available. If a slide presentation, please bring your own slide projector. If a PowerPoint type program, please bring your own computer with your cable connections. Holiday Hospitality treat will be PIZZA.

    • January 8, 2025 - "SVRHS ANNUAL MEETING of the MEMBERSHIP and the FINAL MEETING of the 2024 BOARD of MANAGERS"

      This meeting will be held at the normally scheduled SVRHS General Meeting time and members are encouraged to attend.

    The SVRHS is always looking for volunteers to present a program at one of our meetings. Programs can be anything railroad related using, for example, slides, narration, speaker informational, speaker educational, or video. The Chapter has available several media devices for use in presenting programs.

    Please contact us if you or someone you know would like to present a program.
