2019 UPCOMING CHAPTER MEETINGS

- Wednesday, October 9, 2019
Railroad Oldies And Snippets will be presented by John Goodnough. A "magic lantern" presentation by your Chapter President, drawing on a personal collection of nearly 40 years, embellished by a few from the SVRHS files. Remember actual film and the use of slides for illustrating railroad history programs? Yes, the era once flourished, and many of the clearest and best scenes were captured via 35mm Kodak and ANSCO slides. The "spread" of topics will include steam and diesel power, freights and passenger subjects; depots and historic landmarks; even a little back yard railroading, with glimpses of track speeders and other ephemera along trackage that no longer exists. Sprinkled in, you may recognize a few former members and events where our Society participated "way back when."
- Wednesday, November 13, 2019
An Operation Lifesaver program will be presented by Colton Fox, Authorized Volunteer for Operation Lifesaverís rail safety education cam-paign in the U.S.A. and Canada. Presentation will cover highway-rail grade crossing safety and rail trespass prevention.
- Wednesday, December 11, 2019
Member's Night, open program presentation. Please limit your presentation to 10 minutes. If time permits we can do another round for those who have additional material to present. A digital and slide projector will be available. If a PowerPoint type program will be presented, please bring your own comput-er.
The SVRHS is always looking for volunteers to present a program at one of our meetings.
Programs can be anything railroad related using, for example, slides, narration,
speaker informational, speaker educational, or video. The Chapter has available
several media devices for use in presenting programs.
Please contact us
if you or someone you know would like to present a program.
