The program is a motion picture from Paramount Studios released in 1952, Denver & Rio Grande. This is the story of two competing railroad companies and their quest to be the first road to traverse the Royal Gorge in central Colorado. It was the Santa Fe vs. the Denver & Rio Grande Western and it certainly was not a friendly competition. The movie contains what many people say is the best head-on rail collision ever recorded. The movie was filmed in full Technicolor which was very rare for the period and even more rare for a grade "B" western. The movie is based on actual facts that occurred during the railroad wars of the late 1870's. The DVD is supplied by John Mersereau.
