October 2026 audio: Tom Nemeth recalls early railfanning
Lehigh Valley freight train Available on YouTube. Railpace editor Tom Nemeth reminisces about the early days of railfanning and picture taking in this 15-minute audio track that followed his October 20th Zoom program on the Lehigh Valley in New Jersey.


October 2026 program: Lehigh Valley Across New Jersey
Lehigh Valley freight yard Available on YouTube. Tom Nemeth shows color images from 1964 to Conrail Day in 1976. He highlights ALCO locomotives, including PAs in freight service, ABBA FAs, RS3s, and later models. Locations include Oak Island Yard, Bound Brook, and Pattenburg tunnel.


September 2026 program: Scenic Idaho and Montana Rails
St. Maries River Railroad freight train Available on YouTube. Alex Mayes shows images from a 2024 trip. Highlights include the St. Maries River short line, BNSF trains on the former GN and NP mainlines, and the newly remodeled Izaak Walton Inn. Plus, wildlife scenes in Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.


August 2026 program: From Nevada to Steamtown
SD-9 locomotive and 1956 Pontiac Station Wagon HY-Rail Available on YouTube. Doug Scott presents a multimedia program with a musical soundtrack covering recent railfan visits, including the Nevada Northern Railway, UP in Utah, and Amtrak in several states. The finale features UP Big Boy No. 4014 at Steamtown.


Clay and Diane
(Clay Moritz and his wife Diane at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum.) After 35 years on the job, Clay has stepped down as editor of Potomac Rail News. October 2024 was his last edition. The newsletter has always been a delight to read. The Potomac Chapter is grateful for Clay's decades of service.
