Train to Winter Park Ski Area (Discontinued in 2009)

Amtrak officially operated weekend ski trains called "Winter Park Express" from January 7 to March 26, 2017 between Denver Union Station and Winter Park Resort.  Amtrak also operated Winter Park Express in 2018 winter season (Jan. 5 to Mar. 25, 2018).

2019 winter season, Amtrak operates the ski train from January 4 to March 31, 2019.  The Winter Park Express runs Saturdays and Sundays only, plus the first two Fridays of each month (January 4 and 11, February 1 and 8, and March 1 and 8).

Amtrak Winter Park Resort Station is unstaffed, but many ski resort staffs provide support for Amtrak passengers.  New concrete platform was built on the south side of the track.   The gates for the platform are opened only when a train arrives and departures for a safety reason.  Access to the ski areas is very easy.  Just exit from the platform and you will see ski slopes and resort town (Rental ski shops, Gift shops, Restaurants, etc.).

Amtrak California Zephyr trains run on the same route, but do not stop at Winter Park Resort Station.  California Zephyr trains only stop at Fraser Station, about 5 miles (8 km) north from Winter Park Resort.
