MoPac Motorcars & Doodlebugs

The Missouri Pacific and her subsidiaries commonly employed the Sykes-built motorcars (aka "Doodlebugs") on some local passenger runs. These were originally built as gas-mechanical, then in 1927 and '29, these were rebuilt at MP's Sedalia shops to gas-electrics. They also recieved a new look on their fronts with a large grill and heavy snowplow.

Some doodlebugs tugged a baggage-mail car built to accomadate this purpose.

MP motorcar 450 (in later years, this would be replaced by the streamlined Eaglette) was commonly used in conjunction with Mopac's locomotives in the Lincoln branchline's passenger service, seen here changing passengers at Union, Nebraska.
