SEPTA Fortuna Station Doylestown Line Hatfield PA |
While the rest of the Doylestown Line intermediate stations got high level platforms, Fortuna Station remained as it has for decades ... |

When the new station at Ninth Street had initially been proposed over a decade ago, among the changes were the closure of Fortuna and the grade crossing at Fifth Street. Well, plans change. Fifth Street is still open, and with a new transit oriented housing development going up just across the tracks from Fortuna, the station has a new lease on life and a facelift to boot. The work started in September 2016 with the beginning of construction on a high level platform and passenger shelter. |
September 19 2016 and the foundations for the new platform, just to the north of the current platform and shelter, are in place. |
The construction method and materials are the same as that of Ninth Street Station. The new platform will be about two car lengths long and will feature a shelter with on-demand infra-red heating. |
Service on the line was bustituted on October 23 while SEPTA personnel installed the platforms. |
It was all in place by the end of the day. Work still needs to be done on the shelter, passenger access and the parking lot which is scheduled for completion September 2017. |
