SEPTA Warminster Line between Roslyn and Cresmont Stations Abington PA July 1 2006 |
Follow-up on the head-on collision of two SEPTA passenger trains. Part One can be found here. |
RL1A 60 was brought up from Wayne Electric to pull out Silverliner IV 299, 370 and 371. |
The cars were readied for movement, with pantographs lowered ..... |
and the conversion coupler that allows a standard freight knuckle to couple to the Silverliners had been installed on 299. |
After the three end cars were removed, the rerailing crew would start work on car 407, the lead car on the outbound train and the one leaning at the catenary pole. |
Extra 60 reversing to couple up to Silverliner IV 299. |
Earlier this year, there was a discussion on Railroad.NET regarding cowcatchers on ex-Reading Silverliners vs pilots on ex-Pennsylvania and Penn Central Silverliners (also a few RPOTW pages were devoted to this subject here, here and here). As part of an ongoing truck overhaul project, the cowcatchers were being removed in favor of the pilots. Silverliner IV 280 was reported to be the only car known to have both, but 299 also has both but only on its B end. |
