SEPTA Dale Interlocking Lansdale PA January 4 2007 |
Part Three of an ongoing series. Part One is here, Part Two is here. |
In between trains, SEPTA C&S department, responsible for communications and signals on the railroad, continues work on the conduit for the new signaling. |
Trenches were dug under the tracks to reach the spots where the new switches will go. |
Meanwhile the track department was positioning the parts for the new switches with the help of a couple carts, placing the pieces along the right of way where they will be assembled later. |
The switch rail sections came in on a flatbed tractor trailer. |
A high rail Swingmaster does double duty, first lifting the new rail from the flatbed to the carts on the Bethlehem Layoff Track, then taking the carts down the barricaded Bethlehem Industrial Track where they will be dropped off. |
