SEPTA Main Line Lansdale PA December 21 2006 |
Part Two of an ongoing series. Part One is here. |
When we last left Dale Interlocking, we were looking south from the station. Now we are at the other end, looking north with the Stony Creek Branch to the left. |
The current signals (mast signal and dwarf signal) will be replaced by the new bi-directional signals that will be added to the brackets recently attached to the existing catenary structure. |
A view from the Stony Creek Branch, with some much needed cleanup in process to the left. A switch and track to the freight house to the left had been previously removed. |
Looking south from Broad Street, the crossover from Track 2 to Track 1 and the Stony Creek Branch along side the old Reading freight house and the new SEPTA interlocking shed, which sits in the right of way of the former freight house track. |
Looking north from Broad Street left to right: the Bethlehem Industrial Track (aka Track 1 south of Dale), the Bethlehem Running Track (aka Track 2 south of Dale), Track 1 (aka the station track), and Track 2. Tracks 1 and 2 connect to the Doylestown Branch single track at CP Land just to the north and east of the station. Currently, all SEPTA trains use the switch in the foreground as there is no other way of getting over to Track 1 from the station. Of course, this will all change with the new configuration that will allow simultaneous movements. |
