8th Annual—Chicago for Lunch Excursion
Tuesday, April 24, 2012
Again this year we are celebrating the resumption of the
Blue Water Service between Port Huron and Chicago in April. Last year was the
biggest group to date that made the trip; 92. This year we have tentatively
made reservations for 100. Final reservation has to be in by February 18th in
order for us to qualify for the discount with Amtrak.
As in past years, we board the train in Flint at 7:11am or
Durand at 7:47am and spend the day riding the train along with spending about 3
hours in Chicago where everyone can do as they please (within the law). Most
find a good place to eat, some go up in Willis (Sears) Tower and others spend
the time sightseeing. There are many restaurants within walking distance of
Union Station ranging from fast food outlets to gourmet delights. It is a great
day to spend meeting old and new friends and riding on Amtrak’s Blue Water Service.
Cost of round trip is:
Adults, $53.00; Children (16 and under),
$27.00; Seniors (62+), $45.00
In order to get the reservations verified,
all reservations need to be made by February 18th along with payment (check or cash).
