GaryM painted a background.
On the streets of West Salida, GlennG has returned, working on First Street adding sidewalk and prepping the area for the buildings across the street from the
prototype building that GlennG made before. GaryM finished the concrete platforms at the Monte Cristo site and a "removable" platform for the stone depot.
DanielS working on wye scenery.
KentS built new framing for the new operator friendly switch panel. GaryM mounted the new switch panel placards on the new board.
DanielS working on wye scenery.
Tyler and KentS worked on the switch motor replacement project.
GaryM finally got around to finish the plug on the cutout.
KentS and GaryM discussed the possibility of moving the West Salida switch panel toggle switches to the fascia, and extending scenery onto the switch panel, to make more
scenery space for more city scene. The area to the left of the switch panel could be extended to fill the space above the car card holder and make a new fascia straight
all the way across. Another idea is to cutout the fascia down to the Arkansas River profile.
KentS rewired switches and LEDs on the old panel. GaryM brought in new large panels to replace the old, but unfortunately left out the crossover. A new panel was made.
GaryM continued painting the backdrop on the cutout.
KentS and Tyler worked on connections and Tortoise installations (replacing old hankscraft motors).
GaryM started painting the backdrop on the cutout. GaryM, KentS and DanielS discussed relocating the Crystal River stockpen from Cimarron.
GaryM, KentS and DanielS discussed relocating the depot to the mainline, by adding a shelf extension (like the water treatment support in Salida).
Cimarron was the helper station for Cerro Summit. It was also discussed adding a 3 or 4 stall
enginehouse, photos how a 4 stall building. The stockpen could be relocated down the track, toward where it was prototypically. It was also considered adding a dummy track
for the wye, so a double spout watertank (as the prototype) could be placed. This would be the only location on the layout where the prototype had a double spout tank.
GaryM and DanielS located the oil tanks near the NG "wye" (we only model the curve to Poncha). We decided with KentS to relocate the two inset switchpanels to the
front of the fascia to make better space (and scenery) for the Salida Lumber Co. and the tank field.
KentS is working on replacing several Hankscraft switchmotors with Tortoises. Also, KentS and GaryM are redesigning the Monarch switch panel to "stretch out and widen" the
panel for better clarity.
GaryM continued working on the foreground of the West Elk Lava Flow by promptly spilling half a bottle of paint on the Coaling Tower track.
KentS removed the Monarch switch panel for rewiring.
GaryM completed painting the West Elk Lava Flow and began working on the foreground.

DanielS improving and coloring the depot mockup.
KentS installed fascia.
DanielS test fitted the 3D printed Barrel donated by Craig Linn.
KentS worked on the new backdrop for the drop shelf. TomG installed the wye ballast board at Castleton and the dropshelf.
DanielS provided a stand-in sand house while GaryM builds the prototype. GaryM repaired the broken trusses to th Arkansas River bridge, and put down new scenery around the stone depot foundation. GaryM worked on "patching" up the Salida Steam Plant with some plastic weld. TomG airbrushed the building to give it a great look. This model will eventually be rebuilt to include a detailed interior. Until then, this model will be "fixed" up as the other mock-ups, to make the layout appear more finished.
GaryM completed patching ballast on the line between the depot and the ballasted bridge.
DanielS painted the mock-ups.

TomG spiked rails and switches.
StuJ brought in his model of the art deco depot, nearing completion!
DanielS completed the roof on the narrow gauge track shed.
GaryM worked on patching gaps next to ballast board and scraping off ballast that floated up on rails and ties.
DanielS painted the mockup.
DanielS researched photos of the Gunnison depot, with plans to color the mockup.
KentS hooked up the tortoises for the three-way switch at Kubler.
GaryM ballasted the mainline to the stockpens.

KentS hooked up the tortoises at Kubler.
DanielS added the junk outside the narrow gauge shed.
GaryM built a foundation for the stone depot and realigned the concrete platform, DanielS & GaryM moved the dual water tanks to check for placement of the Salida storage warehouse.
GaryM added more of the concrete platform between the tracks.
DanielS completed the interior of the upper Barrel shed.
StuJ brought out the 1941 art deco depot, which is nearing completion. StuJ also built the interior walls for future lighting.
GaryM installed the rest of the curbing for the concrete platform at the depot, and laid out the footprint of the stone depot.
DustyT has been relandscaping the Poncha Creek at Otto and Mears basin.
GaryM ballasted the mainline from the Mechanical Transfer to the yard throat.
GaryM laid out the concrete platform borders.
TomG installed the Kubler switches.
DanS and DanielS worked on the rocks, with a little help from KentS.
DanielS installed the dump funnel tray.
GaryM continued realigning the house track, to make room for the full length of the stone depot.
KentS and TomG have got the line almost complete. #278 makes it all the way to end of track at Kubler!
GaryM touched up the transformer.
DanielS continued work on the Mechanical Transfer.
DanielS works on the roof of the car shop. GaryM relaid the house track ties to make room for the stone depot.
KentS and TomG working on the branch.
DanielS added the conduits from the Control hut to the motor house, and located the main gear shaft.
GaryM pulled up a section of the house track to move it riverside to make more room for the 1926 stone depot.
TomG touched up & painted more ties.
DanielS built the support superstructure to the Control hut on motor house.
GaryM laid more ballast to patch areas in the transfer yard and laid ballast along the main ladder.
KentS installed several Tortoise machines. TomG & DustyT laid more ties.
DanielS worked on the motor house for the Mechanical Transfer. After laboriously studying photos, he found that the steel shed was lengthened to cover the motor
shaft bearing, with added framing for the overhead control shed.
GaryM continued repairing ballast in the Transfer Yard and started adding ballast to unballasted track. GrantC pointed out that the A.R.T. Emergency Ice House
(center in 2nd photo) will require a foundation to sit it between the tracks.
GerryG returned to work on the CF&I Big Mine backdrop.
TomG and KentS continued work. TomG brought out 5 switches, and stained the first section of ties.
GaryM re-ballasted the narrow gauge isolated "display" tracks. These are for stationary equipment like work cars, motor cars. In reality, the tracks continued across the
narrow gauge mainline and would connect to tracks between the Arkansas River and the Monte Cristo hotel. Templates were also experimented with for the modified stone depot.
The blue paper is laid out for the possible cement platform areas. The green template is the expanded early stone depot, pre-dating the 1926 version. An approximate footprint
(which is reduced in size) of the art deco 1941 depot is in the foreground. StuJ is working on that depot.
TomG, DustyT and KentS working the branch laying ties.
GaryM removed the brown ballast from the narrow gauge "display" tracks. TomG learned that alcohol on the wet glued ballast would loosen it up enough for removal.
TomG lays the first ties on the new spline roadbed.
GaryM made some new signs for the yard limits, and the new locale MIDTURN (replacing Hel Junction) and MINTURN station signs for the helpers at the bottom of the helix
(at the wye on the staging exit ladder).
DanielS added the remaining tower mock-up.
TomG completed eastbound facing F-81 #1405 2-10-2 through the Salida yard. Four switches, including the ashpit switch, were found needing adjustment.
GaryM completed testing with C-21 #360 through all the switches. Two were resoldered to repair too wide of gauge near the points.
GaryM began testing with C-21 #360 through all the switches. Repairs ongoing on some switches for too wide of gauge in a pair of switches.
DanielS test ran #484 through Monarch and found the wye switch inoperable. KentS traced a wire to the wye with a kink that resulted in a broken wire, and replaced.
DanielS added details on the shed on the east side of the Mechanical Transfer, and built the rickety stair on the west side.
TomG brought out his spankin new F-81, pulled some cars around. He commenced testing the switches. DG switch #35 first to fail.
GaryM parked a pair of shiny new resin 1941 Chevys at Rocky's Corner Tavern.
DanielS added details on the shed on the east side of the Mechanical Transfer, and built the rickety stair on the west side.
GaryM sanded down the ties on the RIP track extension near the car shop. TomG stained the ties to match. GaryM spiked in new rails and left unpowered intentionally.
GaryM brought out a repaired Rocky's Corner Tavern. Epoxied the Stroh's sign and front overhead door lamp. Two missing billboard lamps were replaced with new ones.
This building is close in size to the actual building and is being used as a stand-in for now.
TomG mounted guard timbers on the trestle, cut back the deck ties, and began adding the NBWs.
GaryM touched up the new backdrop to raise the horizon to match the main backdrop, but need some more white paint.
