Speaking of the Depot, Hal says he is working on finishing up the roof, while recovering from some recent surgery. Unfortunately,
Hal got an infection from the stitches and is slowly fighting that off, and has been unable to attend meetings. However, he is
still keeping busy and anxious to see what other kits Ed Dorroh has given us. He also would like to remind Barry that he has some
projects still awaiting him, including a sink installation. -I guess that means about everything!

General
Glenn and Gary added some more rock castings to the canyon. A lot of progress lately from contributions from almost everyone. Gerry started adding riverbottom
to the Arkansas running through the gorge.
Tom has been building the dual gauge curved switches on the west end of the Cleora stockyard. A #10 on the mainline into the yard with a #8 curved switch under
construction.
Barry replaced tri-colors LEDs in the main Transfer Yard switch panel. Kent completed installing the toggles for the car shops, the narrow gauge scales and
yard ladder. Gary patched the previous Digitrax UPS access panel and started the relocation of terminal strips (to accommodate the moving of the Salida PM4
panel to the base of the fascia).
Gerry is reworking the streambed from Gray's Creek, which had turned all milky. Gerry ripped at all the bad water and is adding all new "water".
All is quiet currently at Marshall Pass.
Gerry worked the water anomaly at the bottom of the trestle. Terry recently completed a lot of scenery.
Glenn re-ballasted the line behind Benny Hill with Gerry.
Gary and Glenn worked on the Salida switch panel for the West Salida yard. We sanded the end to fit the curve at the
Arkansas Bridge and corrected the template.
Barry worked on the wye.
Gary cut the door jam board for the West Salida panel.
Gary worked on the switch panel.
Barry and Kent worked on the wye.
Kent repaired the short on the switch from the 1st & 2nd Mains.
Gary worked on the switch panel.
Kent cleaned the Foreign Object debris from the west Parlin D&RGW track to main switch.
Barry with inspiration from his disabled sidekick trackman Dan, repaired the Wye switch at Crested Butte as well as a second switch near the station.
Kent installed a 3rd light in the Marshall Pass snowshed over the west switch.
Glenn started painting the striata on the fascia side of Benny Hill.
Gary worked on some car cards for Tarry's and Tom's new cars and cleaned up Cleora.
Visitors: Kent Hoilman
Kent made an overhead lamp mounted in the snowshed near the switch on the west end. It works by contact tabs under the
structure, so is totally removable with the snowshed.
Gary built a cutout for the new horizontal switch panel. It will allow the switch table with track schematic, toggles
and LEDs to be removable for repair and scenery to be built up next to the panel. There is now some space on the opposite
side of the track for a tool shed and out buildings.
Glenn continued work on Benny Hill, with some help from Gerry. They added hydrocal on the cutaway face (above the fascia)
and carved striata along the surface.
Barry began relocating the switch toggle panels to accessible points on the reverse loop end of staging.
Gary added some cardboard netting to fill the holes in the scenery around the stockpens next to the Arkansas River and the
area between the trestle over the dry streambed near Red Hill.
Kent built a working light on the turntable by adding a LED to the lamp and rebuilt the conduit to have one wire thread
through.
Parlin
Glenn began planning further refinement to Benny Hill, gathering hydrocal and rock materials.
Gary built framework to house the removable west end switch panel, along with some additional drywall cardboard shims
used for terrain webbing.
Tarry has been working on the cut at Shawanno and the scenery for the RR buildings along the track.
Glenn added foilage and soils to Benny Hill.
Gerry has been blending the foreground hill with the backdrop.
Tom had Gary and Kent relay a portion of the roadbed we screwed up. After carefully prying up the west end piece after
it fortunately been glued down very badly - luckily. It came up fairly easily and we were able to reattach the piece
along the proper alignment and all were happy.
Kent and Gary attached the luann roadbed sections for the Cleora stockpens.
Tom and Gary cut out the luann roadbed for the Cleora stockpens.
No work. See the Operations Report.
Tarry worked on the scenery and got the foundation laid for the the bunk house and coal house. He also worked on the
top of the cut to give it more slope.
Gary found a couple tight spots with the NMRA gauge on the new track, and made adjustments to the ties at the defected
spots and reglued the track down with CA. Track feeders still will be required for completion.
Glenn worked on Benny Hill and gave him an amazing makeover outside on the driveway, with a nice layering and scalp job. The
wet plaster face cover did wonders and the hill looks great.
Kent and Barry worked on installing the new LED lighting underneath the narrow gauge staging, for night lighting the
aisleways.
Tarry worked on the foundation laid for the the section house and added a dry wash.
The damaged section of track connecting Parlin to the Alpine Tunnel, Nathrop, and Buena Vista via the C&S (former South
Park and Pacific) has been repaired. K-27 #1456 ran restored section in both directions. Clearance past Harrison Cliff
is tight but will be OK so long as crew does not lean outward. Track glued with Pliobond.
Kent and Barry worked on installing the new LED lighting on the standard gauge staging.
Gerry spliced two code 70 track pieces together. New track is held with just rail joiners pending trial run with
locomotive and train to ensure clearance along Harrison’s Cliff. If all appears satisfactory track can be glued and spiked Wednesday evening.
Tarry added some "geology" to the geographicaly challenged area along the track, and incorporated some ground cover as well.
Kent and Barry worked on the next application of LED lighting on the staging deck.
HO Staging North side with new LED lighting.
19 Mar 2016 Crew: Gary and Barry
Gary cut out and replaced a short piece of cork roadbed and cut a piece of Micro-Engineering flextrack to replace the old damaged rails. Joiners were
added on the rails to adjust the rail height to the current shinohara rails, which are on slightly thicker ties. The new flextrack will be spiked at the
ends on the wooden ties and caulked down in between.
Barry on the LED lighting for staging deck replacement of the incandescent
lights and the NG staging (underneath lighting).
Tom and Gary worked on a cardstock template for the track plan and laid out the tracks. Looks like a #6 DG wye will be required on the
east ladder sidings. Tom added more subroadbed pine and sanded the boards smooth. Tom made the template for the west ladder and took it
to cutout on a new piece of luann. Gary needs to make a good wye template before we can accurately lay out the east ladder.
Barry completed the LED installation from Poncha Jct to Tennessee Pass and started planning lighting for staging deck replacement of the incandescent
lights and the NG staging (underneath lighting).
Gerry and Barry completed the track repairs to the mainline. Gerry completed spiking and gapping the rails and Barry added new feeders.
No work. See the Operations Report.
Tom and Gary worked on the basic track layout at Cleora, and cut out some luann roadbed pieces. We put the roadbed centerline 1 1/4"
offset from the fascia and 2" from the mainline. The plan is to lower the subroadbed slightly so the sidings will be below the
mainlines. Tom installed the subbase (which will also be the subroadbed) to support the curved switches coming off the mainline from
the end towards Barrel. We may be forced to place the standard gauge tank on the switch to the stockyards, off of the mainline due
to space limitations.
Gerry repaired the rails that "popped off" the trestles at Tank 7, by spiking the rails onto the bridges. Lack of gaps in the rail
through the curve apparently caused the rails to pop off of the CA cementing the rails to the trestles, due to thermal expansion.
Glenn worked some more on the foam hill, adding more terrain features. The hill is easily removable providing total access to the
track. Glenn added ravines and gouges to the hill, to make it more realistic before applying plaster cloth.
Barry worked on the lighting above the Depot and Section House.
Glenn finished building the big hill between Parlin and Gunnison out of several pieces of 2" sheet foam.
Gary updated the narrow gauge inventory of rolling stock currently on the layout and will update the NG rosters accordingly.
