The Front Range Subdivision is a track warrant controlled mainline that goes between Denver, CO and Wendover, WY. The line was originally built by the Colorado & Southern Railway.
The Front Range Subdivision was built by the Colorado & Southern Railway in the early 1900's as a connection between Denver and Cheyenne. In the 1970's, after the merger between CB&Q, C&S and many other railroads to become Burlington Northern, the line was now owned by the Burlington Northern Railroad. The line was used quite a bit by BN, but after the BN-ATSF merger, BNSF dropped a lot of trains that ran on the line and the line only saw up to 3-9 trains a day. In 2020, the line stopped seeing mega coal trains, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, the line sees manifests, stacks, unit sand trains, and locals.
