1999 Summer Vacation Railfanning Trip

Amsterdam, New York: July 21st, 1999:

Wednesday, July 21st, 1999 - Continued:

After my train left, I stuck around the station for a little bit. The people who were planning to meet me at the station weren't gonna be there until early the following morning, so to all who see this, here's what you missed!! The first train that came by is pictured below...

CSX Westbound TV Train on Track #2 passing by the Station at 1:17pm in Amsterdam.
Here it is, for all who haven't been to Amsterdam, this is the little Amtrak Station proudly serving this sleepy little town on the Mohawk River. Built by Amtrak in the early 1970's, it is only open to the public 30 minutes before each train arrives.
After I took the photo of the Amtrak Station, I checked into my hotel then got a taxi ride back to the Station around 5:00pm. This Eastbound Ballast Train (pictured above) with "Ex-Con" #2769 (Former CR# 8183) passed by the station at 5:19pm.
Next up, is Eastbound CSX Train ML-268X with C40-8 #7604 on the lead on Track #1.
Arriving in Amsterdam is Amtrak Train #283, the Empire State Express, with P32AC-DM #710 leading on Track #1 at 6:24pm, running on time.
Running late as usual, is Amtrak Train #64, the Maple Leaf, on Track #2 arriving in Amsterdam with F40PH #228 leading.
Yes, I know this picture is badly underexposed, but I had to prove to everyone who I trainwatched with that I did in fact see a Santa Fe Warbonnet unit pass by Amsterdam!!! This Eastbound CSX Train had Santa Fe C40-8W #852 on the lead passing by the Amtrak Station at 7:57pm on Track #1. That's all I would see for the day, a brief rainstorm passed over the area shortly after I took this picture, so I headed back to my hotel. The following morning, a couple friends of mine would pick me up from my hotel and bring me back here, to see the rest of my report, click in the table below...
