Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway (ATSF) depot was built in 1961, but the station was closed in 1968 when the Santa Fe discontinued operations on the Grand Canyon line. The former depot was demolished a short time later. Amtrak Williams Junction opened in August 1999 and the platform was built by Grand Canyon Railway in order to accommodate Amtrak passengers. Grand Canyon Railway decided to discontinue its shuttle service between Williams Junction and Grand Canyon Williams Station/Hotel and the service ended on January 1, 2018.
