On April 15, 2000, Amtrak returned service to Janesville. Two months later (June 13, 2000), Lake Geneva Station opened between Janesville, WI and Glenview, IL. The station was located on a small town, Zenda, a few miles south from most of Lake Geneva and its major resort. The trains, Lake Country Limited (#343 and #344), ran one round trip daily first. Then, the service was reduced once a week on March 24, 2001 (Saturdays only). Finally, Lake Country Limited was eliminated on September 23, 2001. Lake Country Limited was really short-lived trains. |
