The new station is the former "Round House" for the "North Carolina
Railroad". The town now called Burlington grew up around the round house
and other maintenance facilities of the "North Carolina Railroad". The
town was originally called "Company Shops". The name was changed
when the railroad was leased to the "Southern Railroad" and the
maintenance shops were moved to Spencer, NC. Link to the website about
