Kitbashed Freight House from HO kit adds plenty of eye-catching interest on Greg's layout. |
Greg Berndtson - I started with the Walthers Cornerstone Series Water Street Freight House Kit for HO. Some of the changes I made to make is 'S' sized was:
* The freight Doors openings were enlarged
* The loading dock was actually made from balsa wood and built to boxcar door height.
* Pallets and loads were constructed and strategically placed inside the building so as not to be able to see though
to the other side.
* Loads are really small wooden blocks wrapped with pieces of brown paper bag to simulate cardboard boxes.
* Wooden crates are also small blocks of wood with balsa strips glued on to look like reinforced corners.
* The motors are actually 'O' sized motors bought at a local train show that were detailed a bit and then placed on
an 'S' sized pallet to simulate an industrial motor load.
* Painted and decorated.
