Text Box: SHUTTLETRAIN’S WANDERINGS

Sunday morning came and we rolled out of bed in the Holiday Inn Express in Gillette. Our mission today was head down the Feather River Canyon and to visit the Grand Tetons National Park before heading into Yellowstone National Park to spend the night. Here are some of the local residents of the parks.

After spending the night in the Old Faithful Cabins, we headed to the Headwaters of the Missouri River, since we hit the headwaters of the Mississippi River on our 2010 wandering. Monday evening we found our way to Missoula, Montana, after going up and down the mountains in  a very large windstorm. Tuesday morning, we continued across Montana and into the state of Idaho. We continued to follow Interstate 90, which  was built along the Great Northern Railway Line. The trains have long gone with the merger of the BNSF, but the towns of Wallace and Kellogg, offer some great station sites.

We continued on to Lynnwood, WA which we used as are base for the three days we would be staying in the Seattle area, visiting family and seeing Hurricane Ridge and Pacific Ocean in LaPush. We left Seattle on Thursday morning and headed Nampa, Idaho. We found a very interesting station and train yard.

We then headed to Meridian, Idaho for the night.

That’s where, we will continue in the morning…
