City of Etobicoke was interested in trying to preserve the single-storey frame CN Mimico station under the provincial heritage act March 1993
The area around the creek mouth was called "Omimeca" meaning "The resting place of the wild pigeons". and from the First Nations were name developed or "Home of the passenger pigeon"

old GTR/CNR Mimico stn mileage 6.8 used until 1968 for GO passengers until GO commuter station completed at mileage 6.7 GTR/CNR stn written up in local Etobicoke Guardian (Nov 2002) where sudden interest to save and designate but stn structurally beyond saving (stn has personal sentiment - my uncle once was here and he often complained that all he had to write train orders by was a 15 watt bulb)
