RBBB "Blue Unit" Circus Train - Apr. 28th, 2003:
After waiting a little over an hour in Glouster, train 046 finally rounded the curve in front of the station. The locomotive consist, C40-8 No. 8723 and C40-9W No. 8922, was in charge of fifty-seven cars. The consist included an assortment passenger cars, flats, and an open autorack bringing up the markers.
The next location I managed to catch 046 at was Corning siding. In this view, the "Blue Unit" snakes through the curves off of State Route 13 outside Corning.
I had to cut the chase short, so
I parted with the train outside
Rendville. The 046 is just about to cross the grade crossing and
head on north toward its final destination of Columbus. Once the show
is over in Columbus, the circus train will head on to Mexico City, Mexico.

Evening railfanning - Apr. 26th, 2003:
After meeting the 45N at Thurston, train 605, lead by C40-9W No. 8922, C40-9W No. 9449, and SD50 No. 6525, moves on south to the West Virginia coal fields for more coal to deliver to Detroit-Edison.
Went on south to Glouster and
setup at
the depot for this night
shot. The DEEX
hoppers of 605 slowly pass by the old T&OC depot.

Afternoon railfanning - Feb.
22nd, 2003:
The railfanning begins with the 45N moving through Hobson Yard, led by NS SD50 no. 6511.
The next location was a meet with empty coal train 601 at Armitage. NS C40-9W no. 9604 was the sole locomotive in charge of the train as he waited for the 45N to clear the main.
Once the main was clear, the 601 got his track warrant and proceeded south toward Hobson.
The final location before
calling it a day was
at Albany, with the 601 rounding
the curve there.

Hunt for the 45N - Feb. 19th,
2003:
As the snow begins to fall again, PRR SD60M no. 6769 North leads the 45N through Armitage with fifty cars in tow on February 19, 2003.
The chase was on after the 45N passed through Armitage. At the covered bridge just off Ohio Route 13, the 45N passes by with the snow really picking up now. The bridge is under restoration, allowing for many more photographs to be taken here.
The 45N was again caught at the Ohio Route 13 grade crossing just south of Corning.
The snow is at its height now by the time the 6769 brings the 45N into Corning. By now the crew has to be guessing where I'd show up next.
Junction
City was where the chase ultimately ended. Tried to catch him
again at Thurston, where he would meet the 44N, but somehow missed the
meet. So I went to Bremen to catch the 44N before heading for home,
but ended up waiting for a good hour-and-a-half before giving up. Upon
getting a ways down on Ohio Route 664 South, the scanner comes to life with
the NA dispatcher trying to find out what the hold-up was with the
44N. At 6:30 p.m. and on my way home, I decided to keep going and wait
another day.
