PN Bethlehem Branch Lansdale PA February 1 2016 |
On this cold February morning, the crew of Pennsylvania Northeastern local L160 pulled up to Crystal-PMC, also known as the Soap, to check out the situation for their work for the day. The car the Soap wanted is on the leased track behind a few box cars (the cars in just north of the crossover), and they would have to reposition a car already in the plant. |
After bringing the car down (along with the attached box cars), they shuffled the cars around ... |
before PN C39-8 8212 shoved both cars back into the Soap. |
Basically they used the box cars as spacers due to the tight curves on the siding. |
After they finished, they put the box cars back where they found them. Under CSX, to avoid the need for spacers, they used four axle power for this move (2005). PN reportedly acquired former CN GP9RM 7010, then sister CN GP9RM 7210 and lastly former CP GP9u 8218 for this. PN 8218 has worked this Soap recently, but this day it appeared to be under the weather. |
By the way, four axle power like that of CSX C746, whose two, three or even four engines can be found in Lansdale Yard almost every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, is exclusively what CSX has bringing up Lansdale in recent months. |
