Railfan Pictures of the Day - 11/16/2005

CSX Bethlehem Branch Lansdale PA November 7 2005

With the coming of cab signals to the SEPTA Main Line from Lansdale to Wayne Junction, the eclectic mix of CSX power for the Lansdale local and transfer jobs has changed to almost strictly former Conrail units, even if they have had their cab signals removed like CSX GP38-2's 2723 and 2750, here leading B738 south to Lansdale. CSX 6211 is on the hind end.
Before heading back to the yard, one last chore: work the soap. Crystal PMC receives tank cars loaded with food grade wax for use in household products. CSX 2723 and 2750 cross Eighth Street on the siding as B738 shoves a car back into Crystal's small yard.
Working the soap requires several moves that tie up Eighth Street as the train pulls the empties and delivers the loaded cars. Here B738 with engines elephant style pull out before shoving the empties back against the rest of the train north of Eighth Street on the Bethlehem Running Track.
Back in the soap, B738 spots a car in front of some storage tanks. With all the external piping, this operation would make a very interesting modeling project.
