SEPTA Doylestown Branch site of proposed Ninth Street Station Lansdale PA July 30 2014 |
SEPTA is moving forward with plans to build a parking garage in the upper lot at Lansdale Station. The construction will cut deep into the number of available parking spots at the already packed station, so a solution is at hand (actually it has been in hand for over a decade). In anticipation of a possible townhouse community in the rear of the former American Olean Tile property, SEPTA proposed building a new station to center the transit-oriented development. SEPTA even went as far as to build a grade crossing at Ninth Street back in 2004. But the townhouses never came, and the road went nowhere, until now. So here is where the new station parking lot will be, taken from location of the new Ninth Street that will connect Cannon Avenue and Walnut Street. |
Under the original proposal, when Ninth Street grade crossing is opened, Fifth Street grade crossing will be closed. Will have to see about the new plan. |
In the future, the station will go here. |
The station platform will be on the north side of the tracks. |
