Amtrak Northeast Corridor Croydon Station Croydon PA April 29 2010 |
SEPTA's work on the new high and low level platforms at Croydon (previous pages here and here) has progressed enough that on May 3 2010, the old platform and stairs will be closed and the new platforms and some of the new parking lot will be put into service. |
The old "Amshack" enclosure will be removed. Note the window on the south side of the structure which, before it was painted over, allowed passengers to see the approaching eastbound trains. |
The high level platform will be used for Track 1, which is the usual track for Trenton-bound trains. The enclosure for the new platform is still in parts to the left, waiting to be assembled. |
The northern portion of the station has two positions for low level boarding for Track 2 as well. |
It is presumed the old platforms will be removed and appropriate fencing installed. |
No matter what is done to prevent it, experience has shown that people like this woman will still cross the tracks. Part of the work was dedicated to refurbishing the Cedar Avenue underpass, the top of which is pictured in the foreground, but is still proves unpopular. |
