Amtrak Northeast Corridor SEPTA Croydon Station Croydon PA June 15 2009 |
SEPTA held a formal groundbreaking ceremony at Croydon Station to announce the work that was already going on behind them. The station will get new high level platforms, the first SEPTA station to get them on the R7 Trenton Line, as well as new passenger shelters and various parking lot improvements to make the station handicapped accessible. |
Among the speakers were Pennsylvania's newest Democratic senator, Sen. Arlen Spector ... |
and Representative Patrick Murphy, with Train 56 the Vermonter in the background. |
The actual work has been going on for several weeks, and continued through the ceremony. |
No groundbreaking is complete without the turning of the dirt using specially decorated shovels, but since the work currently is all on the westbound side, a mound was conveniently deposited on the eastbound side by a frontend loader earlier that morning. |
