Amtrak Northeast Corridor Eddington Station Bensalem PA November 29 2009 |
Last week it was announced that the Atlantic City Express Service, aka ACES, will pare down the number of trains running each week between NYC and the shore from 18 to 11. The Friday/Saturday/Sunday trains are contracted by several casinos in Atlantic City and operated by NJT personnel using NJT power and ACES bilevel cars. Debuting in February 2009, the economic downturn, regional competition and the time of year have contributed to a drop off in ridership even after fares were cut. Service may be restored in the spring, and the trains are supposed to run for at least three years. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, Train 7181 speeds down the corridor with NJT P40DC 4803 on the point and an NJT ALP-44 on the hind end. |

In between was a deadhead run from the MMC to 30th Street with GP40PH-2A 4146 leading. |
