CSX Trenton Line Bellevue Avenue Langhorne PA July 22 2008 |
|
Bellevue Avenue in Langhorne has been a problem for both trains and cars due to heavy pumping action in and around the crossing, so CSX had been bent on replacing it. |
The materials had been sitting for months, waiting for the opportunity which finally came in late July 2008. Unfortunately, the design is similar to the one that is failing at Woodbourne Road, where the metal edging has come loose from the deteriorating concrete. SEPTA is using a modular all concrete design for their crossings (here). Should be interesting to compare their durablity. |
After finishing with the preliminary chores, the CSX MOW crew waited until Q439 had passed before getting to the real work ... |
cutting the rail. The MOW employees are apparently very camera shy creatures, not used to working in the limelight. While taking photographs of the work, they requested "not of my face", so shots featuring people will be at a distance. |
