SEPTA Frankford Transportation Center Philadelphia PA March 4 2007 |
SEPTA celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first run of the Market Elevated Line on March 4 1907 with free rides for all on the Market-Frankford El from 12:00 to 5:00. For the start of a trip the length of the line (about 40 minutes), either end of the line will do, like the relatively new Frankford Transportation Center that replaced the old Bridge-Pratt terminal back in 2003. |
With the completion of the new parking garage to the north, new vantage points are available of the train shed and its comings and goings. |
The platform is glass and metal, but rest of the station is old-fashioned brick and mortar. |
Of course, being a Sunday, most of the fleet slept in for the occasion. |
