Railfan Pictures of the Week - 07/27/2003

As of 8:00 PM on July 25 2003, there was no entrance to the old Bridge and Pratt El Station on the Market-Frankfort Line, as the Frankford Swing was initiated, with the cutover of the existing tracks north and south of the station to the new Frankford Transportation Center. From now to August 4 at 4:00 AM, El service will terminate at Margaret-Orthodox, with a free shuttle to Bridge and Pratt.

The centerlines have already been marked on the old viaduct, awaiting the cutter's torch.
Obviously, the intersection of Bridge Street and Frankford Avenue will be closed while this eyesore is removed.
The current trestle over Bridge Street to the yard will be replaced by its new neighbor.
A "B" train with the Adtranz M4 cars on the old trestle. A/B train service will be suspended during the Swing.
Although the old "Blue Line" branding color scheme reigns on the platforms, much of the exterior structure still has its PTC green paint.
End of the line for the old Bridge and Pratt Station

Pictures of the new Frankford Transportation Center coming soon.
