CSX Lansdale Yard, SEPTA Doylestown Branch and Main Line Lansdale PA October 30 2009 |
Part One can be found here. |
Due to the CSX diesel spill cleanup disrupting freight service in and out of Lansdale, CSX would have to move the bridge via the wye instead of the Bethlehem Running Track. This meant the bridge, which at the manufacturing site was placed on the flat cars oriented to the destination, would have been facing the wrong direction. So at considerable expense Railworks and SEPTA brought in a couple heavyweight cranes to turn it just north of the yard. |
The actual move, liftoff to setdown, took about 20 minutes, and after some work on the branch, CSX B738 shoved the new bridge section and additional flats around the wye ... |
and over to the switch at Seventh Street where it would enter the Doylestown Branch. |
After running south on the Doylestown Branch to the Main Line at CP Dale, B738 shoved the cars back onto the Bethlehem Industrial Track at Lansdale Station. |
B738 would cut off from the cars, leaving them for SEPTA to pick up when needed. |
