CSX Greenwich Yard South Philadelphia PA July 15 2007 |
More on the derailment in South Philly. Part One is here, Part Two is here. |
|
The head end was up at Oregon Avenue, with a break in the cars to clear Packer Avenue just north of the bridge. Most of the train was made up of trash cars (double stacked trash containers in the front, singles in the back) with other cars mixed in. |
Leader was an ex-Seaboard unit SD50 8537. |
In the middle was ex-Conrail GP15-1 1537 |
Trailing unit was ex-B&O SD40-2 8259 (B&O 7617) converted to remote control operation. After uncoupling from the cars, the power was taken up to Moore Street where it reversed down the old CSX track to the former Snyder Avenue Intermodal Yard and back to Greewich Yard, where it was now on the west end of the derailment. |
