CSX Greenwich Yard South Philadelphia PA July 15 2007 |
CSX yard job Y190 was working the east end of Greenwich Yard near the Walt Whitman Bridge on July 15 2007 when it derailed several trash cars just outside the entrance to the Canadian Pacific Yard along Columbus Boulevard. Coincidentally, this would be the first of two "train wrecks" in South Philly, as later the same night, just ten blocks away, the Phillies lost the 10,000 th game in franchise history. |
The power of the train was just south of Oregon Avenue, barely visible in the distance, as is the passenger liner SS United States. |
