Railfan Pictures of the Day - 05/01/2007
SEPTA/NS/CSX Stony Creek Branch PA Norristown PA April 12 2007 |
Part Four of a series. Part One is here, Part Two is here, Part Three is here. |
CSX C746 derailed in Norristown PA on its way to Lansdale PA. |
After the first three cars were rerailed, they moved the sidewinder in to the last car. |
After some discussion, it was decided that they would not need the sidewinder, and used a backhoe instead. |
After measuring the gauge of the track .... |
another backhoe went to work ripping up the crossing so the track could be regauged. |
Meanwhile, the sidewinder on the right had a counterweight added as it would be used to lift the fully loaded cars so that the side frames on the trucks could be hammered back into place. |
Both sidewinders were brought back up to the derailment site. |
