PRL Bensalem Branch Bensalem PA September 21 2005 |
Penn Eastern Rail Lines has petitioned the Surface Transportation Board to take over operations of the former PRR/PC/CR/CSAO Bensalem Branch, aka I-95 Industrial Park, between Eddington and Croydon PA. The branch is located just off Amtrak's NEC and was last serviced by CSAO local FJ10 out of Frankford Junction back in 2002. PRL currently has operations in Bristol PA. |
Back in October 2003, Amtrak replaced the wooden ties on Track 1 with concrete, and while they were at it, removed the I-95 switch that was the only access to the branch. |
Today the telephone box is the only indication on the NEC that a switch was here. |
The rails for the Bensalem Branch were cut and have been partially buried by ballast. |
The rail is visible just off the NEC ...... |
... but quickly disappeared into the overgrowth. |
